6 killed in Bandarban landslides

At least six people have been killed and five others injured in separate incidents of landslides in different areas of Bandarban. The deceased are Reba Tripura, 24, Lota Borua, 7, Mia Borua, 5, Shubho Borua, 4, Kamrun Nahar, 40, and Supriya Begum, 8. Bandarban sadar police station Office-in-Charge Rafiq Ullah confirmed the number of causalities to the Dhaka Tribune Tuesday morning. Locals said the incidents took place due to the torrential rain in Balaghata, Lemujhiri Para and Agapara areas around 2:30am. Bandarban Fire Service Sub-Officer Shopon Kumar Bose told the Dhaka Tribune: "We have rescued the injured and sent them to sadar hospital." Meanwhile, Bandarban's road communication with Rangamati and Chittagong came to a halt after the incidents. S Alam Paribahan's Bus Service Manager said: "No vehicle has left the district as the roads were damaged in the landslide."
