ActionAid Bangladesh has provided medical equipment, including PPE, masks and hand sanitizer, to eight upazila health complexes (isolation centres) in Cox's Bazar to ensure treatment for Covid-19 patients.
ActionAid officials handed over the medical equipment to Cox's Bazar Additional District Magistrate Md Shahjahan Ali and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmud Ullah Maruf at the deputy commissioner's office and Hotel Sea Princess (isolation centre), respectively, according to a press statement issued on Tuesday..
Cox's Bazar Sadar UNO Mahmud Ullah Maruf said: “This initiative of ActionAid Bangladesh will play a vital role in the treatment of local coronavirus patients.
“This will also strengthen the government's efforts in fighting the deadly virus. The Cox’s Bazar Civil Surgeon’s Office will also benefit from these medical kits; the equipment will be sent to the health complexes (isolation centres) in a total of eight upazilas, including Ramu, Teknaf and Ukhiya as required.”
Tk30 lakh worth of PPEs, KN95 masks, surgical masks, surgical gloves, hand-gloves, hand sanitizers, boots, eyeglasses, face shields, towels, baskets, bleach powder and disinfectant sprayers have been distributed by the international development agency.
Australian Aid donated the fund towards this effort, added the release.
ActionAid Bangladesh has also been working in the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar to stop the spread of coronavirus.
