A 60-year-old woman has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Cox's Bazar.
She is currently undergoing treatment at the Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital. Due to the incident Pahartali area of ward no 7 in Cox’s Bazar municipality has been locked down on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, 21 people including 12 physicians, six nurses and three conservancy workers were sent to home-quarantine the same day as they came in contact with the infected patient, said Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Mahmudullah Maruf.
While talking to Dhaka Tribune about the infected woman, Dr Md Mohiuddin, Medical Superintendent of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital said: “The woman’s blood sample was sent to Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on Sunday and it came back positive today,”
She is being prepared to be sent to a specialized hospital in Chittagong’s Faujdarhat.
Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Kamal Hossain said: “Out of the three blood samples, sent to the IEDCR, two came back negative and the other positive.”
As of Tuesday, a total of 4 people have died from Covid-19, while 39 patients have tested positive for the virus in Bangladesh.
