Another patient has died of dengue while undergoing treatment at the Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).
The deceased, Al Mamun Alam, 42, was a leader of the Gopalganj Swechchhasebak League.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, KMCH Residential Physician Dr Shailendranath Biswas said: “Alam was admitted to the hospital last Sunday.
"He had many ailments and was suffering from Dengue shock when he was brought here. There he died at around quarter to 12 midnight.”
When contacted, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Swechchhasebak League unit President Mohsin Uddin Shikdar said: “Alam was the president of Gopalganj’s Shuktail Union unit of Swechchhasebak League.”
112 new Dengue patients across country
A total of 112 Dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.
By 8am yesterday, 53 new patients had been admitted in Dhaka and 59 in districts outside the capital.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a press release issued yesterday, said the number of patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals is 537.
As many as 264 patients are currently receiving treatment in government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas 273 people are undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, according to the DGHS data.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has now received a total of 264 reports of Dengue-related deaths across Bangladesh. It reviewed 193 such reports and confirmed 121 deaths between January 1 and November 25.
However, the unofficial death toll is reported to stand at over 193.
Between January 1 and November 25, as many as 99,657 people were affected by Dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 98,856 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
