2 fish farmers hacked to death in Meherpur

Two fish farmers have been hacked to death in Meherpur.

The incident occurred at Darbeshpur village under Sadar upazila on Wednesday night.

The deceased were identified as Rokonuzzaman, 36, and Hasan Ali, 42. Both of them were cousins.

Confirming the matter, Meherpur police station Superintendent SM Murad Ali said: "The incident took place at Soilmari Beel which they had taken on lease for fish farming.”

“They went there around 11:30pm when a group of miscreants attacked them."

Both the victims died on the spot after being stabbed indiscriminately, he said.

We rushed to the spot with two teams of Detective Branch (DB) of police and recovered the bodies, Murad added.

"From initial observations, we suspect that a previous animosity might be the reason behind this murder," he said.

The bodies were sent to a local hospital for autopsy. A case is underway in this connection with Meherpur police station.
