A Upazila Parishad chairman is among 12 people charged with the murder of a madrasa principal in Magura.
Maulana Abdur Rouf, principal of Sripur Kadirpara Madrasa, suffered fatal injuries at the hands of UP Chairman Pannu Molla and several others on the night of March 21. He died of his injuries on Monday afternoon.
The attack was reportedly over a complaint filed by Rouf against Pannu Molla for cutting down trees on the premises of a college where the former served as the chairman of the managing committee.
On Wednesday, Rouf’s younger brother Abdul Wahab filed a case with Mohammadpur police station, naming Pannu Molla and 11 others.
Afterwards, madrasa students and teachers protested on Wednesday afternoon demanding justice.
They threatened to boycott classes if the culprits were not arrested within 48 hours.
