4 workers killed in Sylhet stone quarry   

Four workers have been killed and three others injured in a mudslide while they were extracting stones from a quarry in Bholaganj area of Companiganj upazila.

The deceased were identified as Ruhul, 22, Motibur Rahman, 32, Ashiqur, 25, and Atabur, 30. All of them were from Sunamganj district.

Quoting locals, Companiganj police station OC Shafiqur Rahman said the mud of the stone quarry, owned by Ali Amzad – president of the ruling Awami League's Companiganj upazila unit, collapsed on the workers while they were extracting stones around 9pm on Sunday.

Police recovered the bodies later.

The injured workers were admitted to Companiganj Health Complex.

Police arrested labour leader Abdur Rouf over the incident.
