Pope to meet 15 Rohingyas during his Bangladesh trip

Pope Francis is set to meet 15 Rohingya refugees in Dhaka during his trip to Bangladesh on Thursday.

Foyez Ahmad, headman of Balukhali Rohingya Camp-1, said the  International Organization for Migration (IOM) has selected 15 Rohingya refugees from the camp to visit Dhaka.

Ukhiya’s old Rohingya camp headman Lalu said the team includes women and children. According to Additional Superintendent of Cox’s Bazar police Md Afruzul Haque Tutul, IOM will make the arrangements for the Rohingya to travel to Dhaka.

More than 620,000 Rohingya have fled their home Myanmar and entered Bangladesh since the Myanmar military launched counter-insurgency operations in Rakhine state on August 25.
