The Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday served notices to three top officials of Bangladesh Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited, commonly known as Milk Vita, seeking their statement in regards to the alleged irregularities inside the organisation, said a senior ACC official.
Seeking anonymity, a deputy director of the commission said the ACC would take statements from Milk Vita managing committee Vice-Chairman Shafiqur Rahman, and its members Faruq Ahmed and Belal Hossain Bhuiyan as witnesses.
Signed by ACC Deputy Director M Nasir Uddin, the notices asked them to appear before the commission at its headquarters on March 6, the official added.
In June last year, the commission started probing allegations against Milk Vita officials after receiving at least 10 allegations of corruptions and irregularities inside the organisation.
The commission earlier found that Milk Vita Senior Superintendent Abdul Ahad Ansari had amassed a massive amount of wealth, which would not have been possible for him to acquire legally.
Altaf Hossain, the commission’s probe officer, found that Ansari owned two flats in Pallabi area worth around Tk1.5 crore, a private car worth around Tk10 lakh and a readymade garment factory.
The commission, in July last year also approved 10 separate charge sheets against former assistant general manager of Milk Vita M Shahiduzzaman Khan on charge of misappropriating over Tk1.4 crore from the company’s provident fund that was kept for the company officials.
