Another child dies with measles symptoms in Faridpur

A child has died while undergoing treatment for measles symptoms at Faridpur Medical College Hospital, raising the number of such deaths in the district to 17.

The deceased, Rafsana, was the daughter of Rubel Hossain of the Alipur area in Faridpur Sadar upazila.

According to hospital sources, she died while receiving treatment after being admitted with measles symptoms.

Data from the Faridpur Civil Surgeon's Office shows that 45 new patients with measles symptoms were admitted to various hospitals across the district in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 93 patients recovered and were discharged.

Currently, 138 patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the district.

The health authorities have intensified awareness campaigns to contain the spread of the disease. The district health department has urged parents to ensure the timely vaccination of children and seek medical attention immediately if measles symptoms appear.

Faridpur Civil Surgeon Dr Mahmudul Hasan said: “Measles is a preventable disease. Timely vaccination significantly reduces the risk of infection. We are making every effort to provide treatment and control the outbreak.”
