DGHS: Community engagement biggest challenge in fight against Covid

More than one and a half years into the pandemic, the health authorities are now realizing that the biggest challenge in their fight against Covid-19 is the lack of community engagement.

“Community engagement remains the biggest challenge for us. We need everyone to be aware and participate in the fight against Covid. We should all realize how dangerous the virus actually is and follow health guidelines accordingly,” said Prof Dr Nazrul Islam, one of the spokespersons of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

He made the remarks while replying to a question during the daily DGHS health briefing on the latest Covid situation on Wednesday.

Replying to another question, Prof Nazrul said that he wanted to remind all to follow proper health guidelines during the Eid holidays.

"We should all properly clean up after sacrificing animals on Eid day. We should also maintain social distancing and wear masks,” he added.

Besides, he also urged all who are eligible for vaccination to complete their registration.

“There is no alternative to getting vaccinated and following health rules in the fight against the deadly disease,” he said, adding that it was all that was needed for us to make our family and society safe.
