The government has made Covid-19 tests free for the underprivileged during the month of July only.
The announcement was made through a press release of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Thursday.
Following the coronavirus upsurge in the country it has become difficult for low income families to have multiple tests done for their family members, read the release.

Therefore, considering their circumstances, the government has directed the public healthcare institutions to make Covid-19 tests free for the needy.
The government has enforced a week-long strict lockdown starting Thursday.
A record 143 people died of Covid-19 in the 24 hours to Thursday morning and 8,301 people tested positive for the virus during the same period.
