Prof Dr AKM Shamsuzzaman, director of National Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Referral Center (NILMRC), has died of Covid-19.
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Institute and Hospital on Saturday morning.
Prof Shamsuzzaman tested positive for Covid-19 on April 7.
Three days later, on April 10, he was admitted to the ICU of the hospital.
Later, he was put on life support after his condition worsened.
His body will be taken to the institution premises at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 10:30am for the first namaz-e-janaza there.
