The daily Covid-19 death tally in Bangladesh has dropped below 90 after 10 days, since 69 deaths were recorded on April 13.
In the 24 hours to Friday morning, the country registered 88 deaths from Covid-19. With the latest development, the total number of deaths reached 10,869 in the country.
Bangladesh also logged a total of 739,703 coronavirus cases with 3,629 people testing positive over the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the latest figures on Covid-19 in the country with a press release on Friday.
Of the 88 deceased – 62 men and 26 women – 53 were from Dhaka division; 18 from Chittagong; five from Mymensingh, and three each from Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet and Rangpur divisions.
Of them, 53 patients died in government hospitals, 34 in private hospitals, and one at home.
Sixty of the deceased patients were aged above 60, 15 between 51 and 60, six between 41 and 50, six between 31 and 40 and one aged below 10.
So far, 8,010 men (73.70%) and 2,859 women (26.30%) have died from Covid-19 across the country.

Since the beginning, 6,345 people have died in Dhaka division, 1,964 in Chittagong, 574 in Rajshahi, 663 in Khulna, 317 in Barisal, 362 in Sylhet, 410 in Rangpur, and 234 in Mymensingh.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.47%.
The health authorities said 5,225 people recovered from the disease over the preceding 24 hours.
So far, 647,674 patients – 87.56% – have made full recovery across the country.
As many as 25,896 samples, including the pending ones, were tested in the 349 authorized labs -- government and private -- across the country.
The latest figures show an infection rate of 14%. The overall infection rate of the country stands at 13.95%.
Currently, 19,165 people are in isolation and 53,994 are quarantined.
On Friday, another 16,784 people got the first dose, taking the total number of first doses to 5,778,686. While 151,988 got the second dose during the same time, taking the total vaccinated to 1,967,975.
On March 8, health authorities in Bangladesh reported the first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus strain which was later named Sars-CoV-2.
The novel coronavirus broke out in China's Wuhan city in late December, 2019 and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
The fast spreading coronavirus has claimed 3,088,239 lives and infected 145,449,878 people across the world till Friday afternoon, according to Worldometer.
As many as 123,462,938 people have recovered from Covid-19 which has spread to 219 countries and territories across the planet.
