Bangladesh recorded 292 new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours till Sunday morning, which is the lowest in more than nine months for two days in a row.
On Saturday, 305 new cases were logged.
The latest figures showed an infection rate of 2.35% in the 24 hours to Sunday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data.
With the new infections, the total number of cases has risen to 538,062.
The country also registered 15 more deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the number of total fatalities to 8,205.

The DGHS said 12,562 samples were collected from suspected Covid-19 patients between Saturday and Sunday morning.
As many as 12,404 samples, including those pending, were tested at 206 authorized labs across the country.
Lowest test positivity rate
The daily test positivity rate stands at 2.35%, the lowest in 10 months since 4.90% on April 5. It was 2.07% on April 4.
The test positivity rate in the country has been in single digits since December 19.
To date, 3,749,012 tests have been conducted in the country, leading to an overall infection rate of 14.35%.
Mortality rate 1.52%
The 15 new deaths from Covid-19 include four women and 11 men. Eight were from Dhaka division, six from Chittagong, and one from Khulna division.
All the victims died at hospitals.
So far, 6,217 men (75.77%) and 1,988 women (24.23%) have died from Covid-19 across the country.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected in the country stands at 1.52%.
Recovery rate 89.79%
The DGHS said 531 people recovered from the disease over the preceding 24 hours.
So far, 483,372 patients — 89.84% of all infected — have made full recovery across the country.
On March 8, the health authorities in Bangladesh reported the first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus strain named Sars-CoV-2.

The fast-spreading coronavirus claimed 2,321,851 lives and infected 106,411,220 people across the world till Saturday afternoon, according to Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics.
As many as 78,071,678 people have recovered from Covid-19, which has spread to 219 countries and territories across the planet.
