A new SARS-CoV-2 variant, which was first detected in South Africa, has been found in Bangladesh, says a pool of experts.
According to them, only one isolated case of the new variant was detected in the country and mutations of the variant take a lot of time to spread.
The finding was disclosed at a press conference organised by the Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) in Dhaka on Monday.
The mass nationwide vaccination campaign, scheduled to start on February 7, will greatly help stop the spread of the mutations, said one of the experts.
