Bangladesh has reported 1,049 new Covid-19 cases, taking the caseload so far to 509,148.
The death toll climbed to 7,452 after 24 fatalities were recorded in the 24 hours to Sunday morning, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its daily bulletin.
Another 1,473 patients recovered from Covid-19 through treatment at home and in hospital care during the same time, bringing the total recovery count to 451,961.
Of the 24 deceased — 16 men and eight women — 17 were from Dhaka Division, three from Chittagong and two each from Khulna and Rangpur.
Twenty-three of them died at hospitals while one at home.
So far, 5,675 men (76.15%) and 1,777 women (23.85%) have died of Covid-19 across the country.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.46%.
According to data released by the DGHS, 13,005 samples were collected from suspected Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours.
As many as 12,650 samples, including some pending ones, were tested at the 167 authorized labs — government and private — across the country.
The latest figures showed an infection rate of 8.29%.
To date, 3,171,910 tests have been conducted in the country, leading to an overall infection rate of 16.05%.
Up to this point, 451,961 patients — 88.77% of all infected — have made full recovery across the country.

The novel coronavirus broke out in China's Wuhan city in late December last year and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
The fast spreading coronavirus has claimed 1,766,356 lives and infected 80,790,407 people across the world till Sunday evening, according to Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics.
As many as 57,000,789 people have recovered from Covid-19 which has affected 220 countries and territories across the planet.
