Bangladesh has registered 36 deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours to Monday morning. With the latest development, the total number of deaths reached 6,874 in the country.
The country also logged a total of 479,743 coronavirus cases with 2,198 people testing positive over the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the latest figures on Covid-19 in the country with a press release on Monday.
Of the 36 deceased – 24 men and 12 women – 25 were from Dhaka division, seven from Chittagong, and one each from Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, and Mymensingh divisions.
Thirty two of the victims died at different hospitals across the country, while four died at home.
So far, 5,255 men (76.45%) and 1,619 women (23.55%) have died from Covid-19 across the country.

Since the beginning, 3,720 have died in Dhaka division, 1,282 in Chittagong, 414 in Rajshahi, 503 in Khulna, 227 in Barishal, 270 in Sylhet, 311 in Rangpur, and 147 in Mymensingh.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.43%.
The health authorities said 2,663 people recovered from the disease over the preceding 24 hours.
So far, 398,623 patients – 83.09% – have made full recovery across the country.
As many as 14,369 samples, including the pending ones, were tested in the 118 authorized labs – government and private – across the country over the last 24 hours.
The latest figures show an infection rate of 15.30% in the last 24 hours. The overall infection rate of the country stands at 16.67%.
Currently, 12,833 people are in isolation and 41,863 are quarantined.
Global situation
The number of global coronavirus cases has crossed the 67 million, according to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), reports UNB.
According to the data compiled by JHU, the total caseload globally reached 67,009,962 while the death toll climbed to 1,535,107 as of Monday morning.
The US is the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths with 14,750,316 and 282,236, respectively, according to the JHU.
Daily infections in the country set a new record high of nearly 228,000 cases on Friday, according to AP.
New cases per day have rocketed to an all-time high of more than 190,000 on average.

Deaths per day have surged to an average of more than 2,160, a level last seen during the dark days in April, when the outbreak was centered around New York. The number of Americans in the hospital with the coronavirus topped 100,000 for the first time over the past few days.
India comes in second place in terms of cases at 9,644,222, while the country's death toll soared to 140,182.
In Brazil, the country’s total caseload reached at 6,603,540 while some 176,941 people have died so far.
Countries with more than a million confirmed cases are Russia with 2,439,163, France with 2,345,648, UK with 1,727,151, Italy with 1,728,178 and Spain with 1,684,647, the JHU data showed.
