Home Minister Kamal, Public Security Secretary Mustafa test Covid-19 positive

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Senior Secretary for Public Security Mustafa Kamal Uddin have tested positive for Covid-19.

Confirming the matter on Sunday, Home Ministry Senior Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sharif Mahmud Opu said: “The minister and the senior secretary were scheduled to attend a function at Ganabhaban on Sunday morning, which the prime minister attended.

"Ahead of the function, samples from the officials were given to the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDRB) for Covid-19 tests.”

“The two tested positive for the virus on Saturday night, and thus did not attend the event,” the PRO added, reports Bangla Tribune.

The PRO further said: “Neither of them had shown any symptoms of coronavirus. They were carrying out their duties as usual. As the reports came back positive, they are both in isolation now.”
