BSMMU launches clinic for Covid-19 follow-up treatment

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) on Saturday launched a clinic for the follow-up treatment of people who have survived Covid-19.

Professor Kanak Kanti Barua, vice-chancellor of the BSMMU, inaugurated the clinic in the morning.

Prashanto Kumar Majumdar, public relations officer of the university, said people can avail the treatment service from 11am to 2pm on Saturdays and Tuesdays.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 1,98,863 covid-19 patients have so far made full recoveries from the disease.

Health experts say the contagious virus leaves some long lasting effects on the human body, and survivors should undergo routine checkups and follow up treatment to avoid any unwanted health complications.

A total 308,925 cases of Covid-19 have so far been confirmed in Bangladesh. The overall death toll currently stands at 4,206.
