The daily nationwide coronavirus infection rate continues to grow, with the country registering a 24.80% Covid-19 positivity rate between Friday and Saturday mornings.
Confirmation of 2,709 new Covid-19 cases after testing 10,923 samples led to the latest infection rate, the third highest to date.
An alarming 25.23%—recorded on July 15—is the highest single day infection rate, followed by 24.95% reported on July 13. The infection rate crossed 24% for the first time on July 11.
The latest development shows that almost one in every four people being tested is turning out to be Covid-19 positive.
Shockingly, this happened for the fifth time in just eight days.
Since late May, the average daily infection rate has been fluctuating around 20%, meaning that one in five tested positive for Covid-19.
The daily infection rate crossed the 20% mark for the first time on May 25.
