The test positivity rate for Covid-19 between Wednesday and Thursday stood at 21.92%, some 0.85 percentage points higher than the previous rate recorded in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, the latest rate translates into the ongoing trend of one in every five samples testing positive, which has been the regular phenomenon for the past few days.
A total of 17,586 samples were collected between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning.
But with the impending ones, 17,999 samples were tested in 66 labs across Bangladesh, Prof Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said on Thursday during the daily Covid-19 online bulletin.

With 3,946 of the tests coming back positive, the detection rate of new patients in the last 24 hours stood at 21.92%, which was 21.07% a day earlier, according to government estimates.
Shockingly, the new infections are the second highest single-day tally of positive coronavirus cases to date.
Till date, 681, 443 tests have been conducted across the country, said Nasima Sultana.
The latest count of tests is the highest yet.
Bangladesh also recorded 39 new deaths till Thursday morning, the DGHS official said.
The death toll due to Covid-19 now stands at 1,621 while the total number of confirmed cases was at 126, 606 till Wednesday in the country.
