Three more doctors have died in Dhaka, Dinajpur, and Chittagong due to Covid-19 infection.
With this, the death toll of doctors due to the pandemic now stands at 40 in Bangladesh, as of Wednesday.
In Dhaka, Dr Md Ashrafuzzaman, 61, a retired government doctor, passed away on Wednesday morning with coronavirus infection.
The doctor was being treated at the Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital.
He last served the country as an associate professor and head of Burn & Plastic Surgery Unit of the Mugda Medical College and Hospital in 2017.
Previously, he was the registrar at the Burn & Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
In Dinajpur, another doctor, Md Shah Abdul Ahad, 67, died at M Abdur Rahim Medical College on Wednesday morning with coronavirus infection.
He was also the former director of this hospital. Dr Ahad also worked as president at the Dinajpur branch of BMA.
In Chittagong, Dr Nurul Haque, a senior resident medical officer (RMO) of Chittagong Metropolitan Hospital, died of Covid-19 infection at the hospital's ICU around 4am on Wednesday.
He worked at the hospital for 19 years.
Confirming his death, Civil Surgeon of Chittagong Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that Dr Nurul was undergoing treatment at the hospital for the last three days. His office was aware that Nurul Haque was Covid-19 positive.
According to Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), a total of 3,267 health service providers were infected by Covid-19 where 1,031 are doctors, 884 nurses, and 1,352 are hospital staff.
BMA corrects death toll list
Dr M Rejaul Karim, former vice chancellor of University of Science and Technology (USTC), was erroneously included on the list of doctors who died from Covid-19, BMA said on Wednesday.
Jamal Uddin, executive officer at the BMA, said they had listed Dr Rejaul Karim, but later they dropped his name from the list after receiving a complaint from his wife.
