A medical board has been formed for Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, who tested positive for Covid-19 on May 24.
An update in this regard was on Gonoshasthaya Kendra's verified Facebook page on Tuesday.
“An online medical board has been formed regarding the severe pneumonia and Covid-19 infection that Dr Zafrullah is suffering from. Specialist doctors from home and abroad are involved in this team,” read the post quoting Prof Brig Gen (retd) Mamun Mostafi, chief of Gonoshasthaya Dialysis Centre.
“The overall condition of Dr Zafrullah is stable and hasn’t deteriorated. However, oxygen is being administered to him. He is feeling better now than before and is now eating on his own,” added the post.
According to the post, Dr Zafrullah is also receiving his regular dialysis and chest physiotherapy.
“Dr Zafrullah is under the observation of Prof Mostafi and Prof Nazib. Earlier on Thursday, Dr Zafrullah’s health deteriorated slightly and he developed breathing complications.
He is being treated at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhaka's Dhanmondi area, under the supervision of Brig Dr Mamun Mustafiz and Dr Najib.
Dr Zafrullah, a freedom fighter, underwent coronavirus testing with the kit developed by Gonoshasthaya Kendra, which found him to be Covid-19 positive on May 25.
Four days later, an RT-PCR test at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) confirmed the diagnosis.
He has been given plasma therapy thrice to help strengthen his immune system and beat the virus.
