Gulshan Society and Praava Health have jointly initiated a program to collect samples and conduct testing for Covid-19 infections in Gulshan area of the capital city.
People — house owners and tenants — living in Gulshan area can get tested for potential Covid-19 infection at this facility. Besides, with the reference of the people living in that area, other people can also get tested there.
Gulshan Society signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Praava Health, a private health and diagnostic centre, to launch the facility to ease the pain of their residents, said Barrister Shukla Sarwat Siraj, secretary-general of Gulshan Society on Sunday.
“We took such an initiative as there is no testing facility in the area at a comparatively cheaper rate. Everybody was going through uncertainty, and wanted relief from it,” she said.
With Praava Health receiving approval from the government to conduct tests for coronavirus, along with few other private hospitals, the initiative came into fruition.
Starting from May 20, in a 3-hour span — from 11 am to 2 pm — samples are getting collected in a booth at a park.
20 to 24 samples are targeted to be collected every day, she said, which will later be taken to Praava Health for testing.
A person may need to spend Tk3600-Tk4500 for testing, which is directly transferred to the private hospital’s account.
“People have to register a day prior to providing swab [to get tested], The test result is given to the tested person through email, maintaining confidentiality,” said Shukla.
