A health worker of Dhanbari Upazila Health Complex in Tangail has been released from isolation, 10 days after he was wrongfully included in a list of Covid-19 infected patients due to an identity mix-up.
Ghatail Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Saifur Rahman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.
According to sources, on May 5, samples of a health worker of Dhanbari Upazila Health Complex and a store keeper of Ghatail Upazila Health Complex, both bearing the same name, were sent to Dhaka to run a Covid-19 test.
On May 7, reports reached the Tangail Civil Surgeon office showing the health worker of Dhanbari Upazila Health Complex tested positive for the Covid-19, forcing local authorities to put the man in isolation and to lockdown his house.
However, after 10 days, on Saturday, it was discovered in the corrected list sent from Dhaka, the store keeper tested positive for Covid-19, not the health worker.
Subsequently, the local authorities released the health worker from isolation and sent the store keeper into isolation.
Regarding the matter, this correspondent tried to contact Civil Surgeon Dr Md Wahidujjaman over the phone, but he did not respond.
Speaking on the matter, Dr Saifur Rahman, Ghatail upazila health and family planning officer, said the problem arose from an identity mix-up and code number errors. However, the health worker was eventually released from isolation.
