A Doctor’s Safety Chamber has been launched in front of Narail General Hospital with initaive and financing from Narail 2 Member of Parliament and cricket celebrity Mashrafe bin Mortaza.
Narail Deputy Commissioner Anjuman Ara inaugurated the chamber on Wednesday.
Narail Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jashim Uddin PPM, Narail General Hospital Administrator Dr Abdus Shakur, Mashrafe’s father Golam Mortaza Swapan, hospital’s Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Moshiur Rahman Babu, Narail Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ilias Hossain, among others, were present during the inauguration.
The chamber has been launched to avoid the risk of doctors, nurses and hospital staff getting infeccted by the coronavirus from a patient and also to provide protection to the patients.
A doctor will check the blood pressure of the patient by using gloves, sticking out of the glass chamber through two openings, and use a thermal detector to detect the patient’s body temperature.
If the body temperature is equivalent to the coronavirus symptoms, the patient will be sent to the coronavirus ward. The hospital’s outdoor and emergency department patients will take service from this chamber. However, injured from accidents can get service directly from the emergency department.
The doctor and the patient will talk to each other using the sound system set up inside the chamber.

Members of Bangabandhu Squad, formed in Narail, will always serve as volunteers. The hospital’s authorities will be in charge of the overall supervision.
Previously, Mashrafe has provided personal protective equipmet (PPE) to doctors and nurses, set up a mobile medical team and established a disinfectant room in the hospital.
As of Thursday, Bangladesh has reported 120 deaths and 3,772 cases of Covid-19.
The fast spreading coronavirus, which was first reported in China’s Wuhan, has claimed more than184,230 lives and infected more than 2,638,000 people globally, according to Worldometer.
As many as 721,734 people have recovered from Covid-19, which has spread to 210 countries andterritories across the planet.
