Near 13,000 tons of rice has so far been distributed among flood affected people across Bangladesh.
“The government has distributed a total of 13,000 metric tonnes of rice among the flood-hit people in 33 districts in the country,” said an official release on Saturday.
A total 19,510 tons of rice has been allocated for flood victims in the country, so far, and 12,818 tons has been distributed.
The government has also distributed around Tk3 crore in cash among the flood victims and Tk1,01,00,000 has been given for the purchase baby food till August 14, 2020, the release added.
In addition, the district administration have distributed more than 1,41,286 packets of dry food among flood affected people.
Furthermore, 400 bundles of corrugated iron sheets have been allotted and 100 bundles have been distributed.
The government has opened 1,117 flood shelters in flood prone areas, where 35,640 people have taken refuge. In flood affected districts, a total of 876 medical teams have been formed and 250 of them are still operating.
The flood affected districts include – Dhaka, Gazipur, Tangail, Manikganj, Faridpur, Munshiganj, Gopalganj, Rajbari, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Kishorganj, Mymensingh, Netrokona, Jamalpur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Brahmanbaria, Rajshahi, Naogaon, Natore, Sirajganj, Bogura, Rangpur, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat, Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj and Sunamganj.
