The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has issued an urgent warning on medical visa applications, urging applicants to follow proper procedures to avoid rejection, while announcing that visa fees for Bangladeshi nationals will remain unchanged next year.
In a notice issued on Monday, the embassy said it has taken important measures to prevent faulty applications and the submission of forged documents. From now on, travel agencies submitting medical visa applications must include a “Travel Agency Guarantee Letter” with each application. Applications submitted without this letter will be rejected.
The embassy explained that several medical treatment visa applications were recently returned due to errors made by travel agencies when completing specific sections of the online application form, as well as the submission of fake invitation letters. These issues have caused inconvenience and losses for applicants.
To protect applicants’ legitimate rights and interests and to promptly identify irregularities and take disciplinary action, the embassy has updated its online application system and made the "Travel Agency Guarantee Letter" a mandatory document. Applications submitted online without the required guarantee letter will not be accepted.
The embassy advised applicants to closely supervise the travel agencies handling their applications and ensure that all required documents are submitted correctly and in line with relevant requirements, in order to avoid delays in visa processing.
Applicants who fail to receive their visa within the expected timeframe have been advised to immediately contact their respective travel agencies.
The embassy also warned applicants not to be misled by false or misleading claims made by travel agencies or other individuals, such as exaggerating difficulties in visa processing or arbitrarily increasing visa fees.
The embassy further stated that if any travel agency omits required information, provides incorrect details, submits fabricated invitation letters, or fails to process online applications on time—thereby harming applicants’ rights and delaying visa issuance—the embassy may temporarily or permanently suspend visa applications submitted by those agencies.
In a separate announcement issued on December 8, the embassy said the reduced visa fees will remain valid until December 31, 2026.
The embassy noted that visa fees for Bangladeshi applicants were reduced in 2023 and have remained unchanged since then. The continued reduction aims to facilitate greater people-to-people exchanges between Bangladesh and China.
