The chamber judge of the Appellate Division has stayed a High Court order that cancelled the candidature of Awami League nominated candidate Shamim Haque for the Faridpur-3 constituency.
The court ordered to allow him to participate in the election.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order on Tuesday.
Earlier on December 15, the candidacy of Shamim Haque was cancelled by the Election Commissioner.
Independent candidate AK Azad appealed against Shamim’s candidacy, citing his dual citizenship.
According to the Representation of the People Order, 1972, an election candidate cannot hold dual citizenship.
The national polls is scheduled to be held on January 7.
