AL nominations: 20 minority leaders to contest polls

Twenty minority leaders of the Awami League will contest the January 7 election directly with “boat” tickets.
The candidates include several incumbent MPs from 11th Parliament.

Party’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names of the candidates at a press conference at the central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.

The candidates include Noni Gopal Mandal for Khulna-1, Narayon Chandra Chanda for Khulna-5, Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu for Barguna-1, Kanai Lal Bishwas for Pirojpur-2, Jewel Areng for Mymensingh-1, Ashim Kumar Ukil for Netrokona-3, Mrinal Kanti Das for Munshiganj-3, Ranjit Chandra Sarker for Sunamganj-1, Pran Gopal Datta for Cumilla-7, Kujendra Lal Tripura for Khagrachhari, Dipankar Talukdar for Rangamati, Bir Bahadur U Shwe Sing for Bandarban, Ramesh Chandra Sen for Thakurgaon-1, Manoranjan Sheel Gopal for Dinajpur-1, Tushar Kanti Mandal for Rangpur-3, Soumendra Prasad Pandey for Kurigram-3, Sourendra Nath Chakraborty for Naogaon-3, Swapan Bhattacharjee for Jessore-5,Shri Biren Shikder for Magura-2, and Sadhan Chandra Majumder for Naogaon-1.
