Primary scholarship results to be published Sunday

The results of the Primary Scholarship Examination will be published officially on Sunday, several days after their release was postponed following an unauthorized online publication.

Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon will announce the results at a press conference on Sunday afternoon at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka.

According to the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE), guardians will be able to access the results online, via SMS, and through the IPEMIS portal immediately after the official publication.

A total of 82,500 students will receive scholarships this year. Of them, 80% are from government primary schools, while the remaining 20% are from non-government primary schools and kindergartens.

Scholarships will be awarded in two categories: Talent pool and General Grade.

More than 640,000 students sat for this year's examination, including around 550,000 from government primary schools and about 90,000 from non-government primary schools and kindergartens.

The results were originally scheduled to be published last Thursday. According to the DPE, the results of the 2025 Primary Scholarship Examination were finalized on July 8.

However, at around 10am on July 9, the results for nine districts under Dhaka Division were uploaded through web links that had been created for the official publication. Users accessed the links, downloaded the results, and shared them on social media, triggering widespread discussion.

The DPE said Assistant Maintenance Officer Md Mehtab Qayes had been assigned to create the necessary links for uploading the results to the web portal and was instructed not to make them public before the official announcement.

Following the incident, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education temporarily suspended Md Mehtab Qayes.

In a notification issued on Friday, the ministry said he had been suspended on charges of misconduct under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules. The DPE has also formed a committee to investigate the incident.
