The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has achieved a significant milestone in international higher education assessment by securing notable positions in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026.
In this year’s ratings, ULAB secured the 8th position among private universities in Bangladesh and the 12th position among all public and private universities in the country.
ULAB improved its global standing from the 1001–1500 band in the previous year to the 801–1000 band in 2026.
The ratings, released on Wednesday, evaluated 1,603 universities from 116 countries and territories worldwide, measuring institutions’ contributions toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Among the participating institutions, a total of 22 universities from Bangladesh earned a place in the ratings, highlighting the country’s increasing engagement in sustainability-focused higher education initiatives.
ULAB demonstrated strong performance across several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. The university ranked 1st among private universities in Bangladesh in SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), achieving a global rating of 401–600. ULAB also secured 6th position in SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) and 6th position in SDG 4 (Quality Education), both with global ratings of 401–600. Furthermore, the university ranked 7th in SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), placing in the 601–800 global rating band; 7th in SDG 5 (Gender Equality), with a global rating of 801–1000, and 11th in SDG 1 (No Poverty), with a global rating of 601–800
The achievement reflects ULAB’s strong commitment to sustainability, which is embedded across its academic programs, research, campus operations, and community engagement initiatives. Through green campus practices, sustainability-focused education, and socially relevant research, ULAB continues to promote environmental responsibility and social impact.
