Committee formed to assess feasibility of turning Titumir College into university in 7 days

A committee will be formed within the next seven working days to assess whether it is feasible to convert Government Titumir College into a university. The committee members will conduct a feasibility study.

On Tuesday, Professor M Aminul Islam, special assistant to the education adviser (with the rank of State Minister), shared this information following a meeting with students of Titumir College at the Ministry of Education.

He said that transforming the college into a university is very challenging. However, there is currently no university in North Dhaka, and Titumir College has 10 acres of land. The committee will examine all relevant factors and submit its recommendations.

Meanwhile, after the meeting, representatives of the students mentioned that the formation of a committee was discussed. Once the committee is established, it will conduct a feasibility study and submit a report. Based on the report, the government will make a decision.

They added: "Turning it into a university is not impossible. For now, we will suspend our movement, including tomorrow's (Wednesday's) program. We will provide detailed information in a press conference tonight."
