NSU among top universities in Bangladesh in THE rankings

North South University (NSU) has been ranked as the joint No 1 university in Bangladesh in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, alongside Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Daffodil International University, Jahangirnagar University, and Jessore University of Science and Technology.

Officially unveiled on Wednesday, all five universities are placed within the 801-1000 bracket globally.

This year’s ranking included over 2,000 universities from 115 countries. A total of 17 Bangladeshi universities are ranked this year.

Last year NSU jointly shared the top position with three Bangladeshi universities. From last year’s top-ranked four universities, Jahangirnagar University and NSU remain at this year’s rankings, while three new universities now share the top position with JU and NSU.

NSU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the university's latest success. “This achievement stands as a clear reflection of the hard work, dedication, and commitment of each member of our university community — students, faculty, staff, and alumni alike, and the guidance of the NSU Board of Trustees.”

Dr Chowdhury also acknowledged the support of various institutions, adding: “We also thank the Ministry of Education, the University Grants Commission, and other regulatory bodies for their cooperation, as well as our fellow universities for their inspiration.”

Looking ahead, he affirmed NSU’s commitment to nurturing future leaders, fostering innovation, and advancing higher education in Bangladesh.

This recognition as the top-ranked university in Bangladesh shows the potential of the whole NSU community to push boundaries and influence the future of education both nationally and internationally.
