Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has hinted that the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and its equivalent Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations may not be held this year as well.
“It seems that holding the JSC-JDC exams will be difficult this year,” she said, while briefing the media at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams are to be held between June and September this year.
“The education boards will be busy with the results. We haven’t made any decision yet. We’ll observe the situation for a month or so… The [JSC, JDC] exams may also be arranged if logistics allow,” she added.
At the press conference, journalists asked the minister whether the JSC and JDC exams were important, given that the exams could not be held in the last two years due to the Covid-19 outbreak and would be permanently scrapped from 2023.
In response, Dr Dipu Moni said: “Maybe it’s not very essential. Still we’ll make the decision after taking the situation into consideration at the earliest.”
Dhaka Education Board Secretary Tapan Kumar Sarker said: “The chances of holding the JSC exams this year are very thin since the HSC will start in August and end in September.”
He said preparation of three or four months is a must for public exams. Moreover, the number of JSC students is a lot more.
