The first-year honours’ admission test of Chittagong University (CU) under the academic session 2019-20 will begin with “B” unit exam on Sunday.
The admission test of “A” unit will be held on October 29, “B” unit on October 27, “C” unit on October 30, “D” unit on October 28, “B1” and “D1” sub-unit on October 31.
The Seat Plan of “B” unit exam is now available on the website. The seat plan of the other units will be available 48 hours before the exams, and detailed information about the admission exam can be found at http://admission.cu.ac.bd.
Applicants are not allowed to use any electronic devices, including mobile phones, calculators with memory options and other communicable devices, during the admission test.
Most of the exams will be arranged on campus, but “A” and “D” units’ exam will be also arranged in Hathazari Government University College.
Last year, all exams were arranged in the university campus.
In this regard, CU Vice Chancellor Shireen Akhtar said: "The maximum capacity for our A and D units is 22,000 to 23,000 in the exam halls, and since the number of applicants has exceeded this number, we are now arranging the exam in Hathazari Government University College, which is closest to this university.”
This year, 700 law enforcement officials will be deployed on campus to manage the rush of aspirants and other security agencies like BNCC and rover scout members will also stay on duty, the CU proctor office informed.
CU acting proctor Pranab Mitra told Dhaka Tribune: “All kinds of political and non-political banners and posters have been prohibited in the campus, and our specialized team and proctorial body will work to prevent any kind of feuds.”
Earlier on October 21, Chittagong University launched an online student complaint cell to prevent ragging and torture. Admission candidates can use this website by logging in through the address www.cuproctor.org.
34 aspirants vying for each seat this year at CU admission
This year 1,66,870 admission seekers will compete for only 4,926 available seats at Chittagong University (CU).
According to CU ICT Cell Director Hanif Siddiqi, the highest number of applicants is for “D” unit, which has 52,970 competing for 1,157 seats, with 46 applicants per seat.
Moreover, 52,870 candidates will vie for 1,214 seats in “A” unit, which means 44 applicants per seat, 42,004 for 1,221 seats in “B” unit with 35 applicants per seat, and 14,001 for 442 seats in “C” unit with 32 applicants per seat.
Shuttle train schedule changed for admission test
CU authority has changed the schedule of the shuttle train for the admission test.
CU assistant proctor and also the media coordinator of the admission test, Rezaul Karim, confirmed that this specialized schedule will work for October 27 to October 31, and two DEMU trains will also transport admission seekers from Chittagong city to CU campus.
