The body of former additional secretary Md Mosharraf Hossain was recovered from a building under construction at the Officers Club in Dhaka’s Ramna area on Friday morning.
Police recovered the body around 11:45am.
Mosharraf Hossain, a member of the Officers Club, lived with his family in Banani.
According to reports, he arrived at the club around 10am with his youngest daughter. He left her near the swimming pool, beside the building under construction, and entered the structure.
About an hour later, his body was found in a bloodied condition on the ground floor near a staircase.
Sheikh Zahidul Islam, deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Ramna division, said Mosharraf had poor eyesight and apparently fell from the third floor into an open space on the ground floor.
“We have completed the preliminary examination of the body,” he said.
The deputy commissioner said the family had requested that no post-mortem examination be conducted and that the body would be handed over to them.
Mosharraf’s eldest daughter lives in the United States. According to the family, his burial will take place after she arrives in Bangladesh.
