28-year-old man’s body recovered in Banglamotor

Police recovered the body of an unidentified man found hanging from a tree at an abandoned house beside Panthakunja Park in the capital’s Banglamotor area on Saturday.

The man, aged around 28, was rescued in an unconscious state at about 12:45pm and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Shahbagh Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahidul said police recovered the man after receiving a call through the national emergency service number 999.

“He was found hanging from a tree at an abandoned house on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue with an internet cable tied around his neck. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead,” he said.

The SI said the body had been kept at the hospital morgue and that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Crime Scene Unit had been informed to help identify the victim.

“It could not be determined initially whether it was a murder or suicide. The exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report,” he added.

An unnatural death case has been filed with Shahbagh Police Station.
