Ashulia gas cylinder explosion: Death toll rises to four

A child who was severely burned in a gas cylinder explosion in Savar’s Ashulia, has succumbed to his injuries.

Soaid, 4, passed away at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Saturday at around 1:30pm.

With his death, the total number of fatalities from the incident has risen to four.

Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident physician at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, confirmed the child's death.

He said that Soaid had suffered 27% burns on his body.

Currently, two more victims are still undergoing treatment, while five others have been discharged after receiving medical care.

Earlier, on February 14 at around 9:30pm, a gas cylinder explosion occurred at a house in the Gomail area of Ashulia, injuring 11 people, including women and children.

Locals rushed the victims to Ashulia Women and Children's Hospital.

After receiving initial treatment, they were transferred to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
