Students and protesters have blocked the road at Asad Gate in the capital, protesting against incidents of rape across the country and demanding safety measures.
The roadblock began at 12:30pm on Sunday, causing traffic to come to a standstill on both sides of the road and resulting in congestion in the Asad Gate area.
Traffic Sergeant Touhidur Rahman of the Mohammadpur zone police said that a group of students had occupied the road at Asad Gate to demonstrate, leading to restricted vehicle movement at several nearby points.
Earlier during the day, students of Eden Mohila College gathered at Bakultala to hold a protest rally against rape and violence against women, demanding security for all, including women and children.
Additionally, students from Titumir College also staged a demonstration with similar demands.
