Awami League men sit in at Dhaka entry points

Leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations held sit-ins at entry points of Dhaka.

From Saturday morning they were taking positions at various entrances including Gabtoli, Jatrabari, Dholaikhal, Babubazar Bridge and Uttara.

However, in front of the central office of the Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue, the presence of activists was limited.

During visits to the entry points, the active presence of the leaders and activists of Awami League and its associate bodies was seen. 

They were marching while shouting slogans in small processions. 

Awami League leaders said the program would continue till the evening.

Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League President Sheikh Fazlur Rahman said: "Our leaders and activists are positioned in various places including Gabtoli and Uttara. The sit-ins will continue till further instructions.”

Azizul Haque Rana, organizing secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League, said: "We are on alert with the leaders and workers of various units at Gabtoli, Basila Bridge, Uttara Complex and Abdullahpur intersection."

Leaders and activists of Shyampur thana Awami League and affiliated organizations were staying at the Dholaikhal intersection. 

Around 500 leaders and activists started chanting slogans by standing on the pavement from 11am.

Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League Office Secretary Riaz Uddin Riaz said: "Our leaders and activists are stationed in every thana and ward. There is vigilance at Babubazar Bridge, Jatrabari intersection. Awami League leaders and activists will be in the field till evening.”
