Abul Bashar and his friend Babul were discussing and planning to go to a mahfil together at his shop in the Shikderbazar area on Tuesday afternoon.
Abul Bashar left the store and went to the restroom. When he returned to the location, he discovered that the ground level of the building had been completely destroyed. The whole structure had collapsed.
He searched all over the area for Babul but couldn't find him anywhere. Later, he informed the family members of his missing friend.
After hearing the news, they rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where Bashar identified Babul's body after seeing the jubba and tasbeeh in hand.
Abul Bashar with a heavy heart and eyes full of water gave a description of losing his friend in the explosion in a seven-story building in Siddikbazar. He had a sanitary product shop called Bismillah Sanitary on the ground floor of that building.
The deceased Obaidul Hasan Babul, 55, was crushed on the ground floor of the destroyed building. Babul was a resident of the Manikganj municipal area.
Babul Mollah Dhaka TribuneBashar said: "Babul's hand had been severed by being buried in the rubble. Maybe the hand still in the derbies. The body was badly dismembered. It was very difficult to recognize. If I had not gone to the bathroom at that time, I would have been in the same situation as Babul.”
Relatives said that Babul is survived by one son and two daughters. The elder daughter, Maryam, and the younger daughter, Maria, are married.
Mehdi Hasan, the only son, is studying at Siddiquiya Darbar Sharif Madrasa. Locals know him as a religious man.
Babul was the sole earner of the family. Relatives are mourning of his death. The body was brought to the village home early on Wednesday. At that time, Babul's wife, Nazma Begum, and three children were crying and the surrounding atmosphere became heavy.
The first prayer was offered at 8am in the Durbar Sharif Siddiq Nagar. After that, at 9am after the second prayer offered at the Char Beutha Baitul Aman Jame Masjid premises next to the house, later he laid to rest.
Abul Bashar has a shop called Bismillah Sanitary on the ground floor of that building in Gulistan's Siddiq Bazar. Babul sometimes came to chat with Babul between work.
