The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) on Wednesday said the seven-storied building in Dhaka's Gulistan, where an explosion took place on Tuesday, got its approval in the 1980s.
However, it is not clear which year of the 1980s the approval was given as the documents have yet to be found, said Hamidul Islam, director of Rajuk (Zone 5).
Hamidul Islam said: “Today is a public holiday. The documents were are yet to be checked as the office is closed. When the office opens tomorrow (Thursday), it will be possible to provide details about the approval of the building. The current condition of the building can also be clarified by looking at the documents.”

He said a five-member investigation committee has been formed by Rajuk in this connection.
At least 19 people were killed after an explosion ripped through a commercial building in the capital's Gulistan area on Tuesday. More than 100 people were injured in the blast.
