A young man was killed in Mohakhali Railgate after being hit by a train when he was trying to cross the railway tracks.
The incident took place around 7pm on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Badrul Alam, 35, son of Abdur Rob Sabur of Kanchan village of Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district.
Confirming the incident, Dhaka Medical College police outpost Inspector Md Bachchu Miah said Badrul Alam was seriously injured when he was hit by a Kamlapur-bound train while crossing the road at Mohakhali Railgate area around 7pm on Sunday night.
Pedestrian Mehedi Hassan rescued him and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He died on Monday morning while undergoing treatment. The doctor on duty declared him dead at 7:37am, he said.
The body of Badrul Alam has been kept in the hospital morgue. The matter has been reported to the Dhaka Railway police station, he added.
