Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Thursday said a total of 63 modern public toilets have been constructed for the city dwellers at the initiative of the corporation.
“Anyone can get information related to the public toilets in the DNCC areas using the ‘Sobar Dhaka’ mobile app,” he said while addressing a roundtable discussion on the occasion of “World Toilet Day-2021” at a hotel in Dhaka.
The mayor said that this time the theme of the day "Evaluation of Toilet (Shouchagar er Mullayon)" is very significant and time befitting.
He also urged all to install modern septic tanks and soak wells in the houses alongside an active purification system to ensure a healthy environment.

“Developer companies need to develop buildings as well as ensure effective arrangements for waste management.”
The mayor further said legal action will be taken if authorities concerned of developer companies do not ensure the necessary septic tank.
Bhumijo and WaterAid Bangladesh jointly organized the discussion while Shyamal Dutta, editor of the daily Bhorer Kagoj, conducted it.
Additional Chief Engineer of DNCC Dr Tariq Bin Yousuf was present there, among others.
