Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam has announced that the illegal parking of trucks on the roads in Tejgaon will be permanently stopped.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a news photo exhibition and discussion meeting held at the Dhaka District Awami League office in Tejgaon on Wednesday.

The news photo exhibition and discussion meeting were organized by the Dhaka District Awami League to mark the 75th founding anniversary of the Awami League and the historic Six-Point Day.

Mayor Md Atiqul Islam toured the entire exhibition before addressing the event.

In response to a question from journalists, the mayor said: "A large number of trucks occupy the roads in the Tejgaon area. When I arrive, they leave, but they return once I am gone. It’s like Tom and Jerry. To solve this problem, we have already received land from the prime minister.

“About 15 bighas of land from BTCL and the Housing Authority in Tejgaon have been given to DNCC. We will quickly construct a modern truck stand there,” he added.

He said: "We are creating a beautiful public space with facilities for children's sports under the elevated expressway.

“Future generations must know the history of Bangladesh's independence achieved under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Pictures and information will convey that true history,” he added.
