A 42 year old man has fled Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital (ShSMCH) while doctors were discussing whether to send him to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) for coronavirus tests.
The patient, who returned from Bahrain around two months ago, had been admitted to the hospital with a cold and fever for the past two days, said ShSMCH Resident Physician Dr Al Amin.
The man fled the hospital on Sunday afternoon after a relative reportedly told him the doctors thought he had coronavirus. The doctors were holding a meeting, where they decided to hand over his case to the IEDCR, at the time.
The doctors could not collect samples for a coronavirus test before the patient fled, Dr Al Amin said.
“We have sent all the information about the patient and his contact number to the IEDCR. They are handling the case,” he added.
