A madrasa student, Asma Akhter, 17, was found dead in the toilet of an abandoned train compartment in Kamalapur on Monday.
Dhaka Railway Police Station Sub Inspector, Md Ali Akbar, recovered the body of the girl.
After getting the forensic report on Tuesday, Pradeep Kumar, forensic doctor of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said that it appeared that the girl was probably raped at first and then strangled to her death by the criminals.
He added that the girl had injury marks as well.
To confirm whether the girl was raped or not, a body sample has been taken for further testing.
Dhaka Railway Police Station Sub Inspector, Md Ali Akbar suspects the cause of death was strangulation. “The actual cause and circumstance for her death, and whether she was raped or not, can only be determined from the findings of her autopsy,” he added.
At the DMC morgue, the victim’s uncle, Raju Ahmed, said she was the daughter of Abdur Razzaque of Konpara village in Panchagarh Sadar Upazila.
We have come to know that a local man named Badhan, also a student of the same madrasa lured her out. ‘‘He has also been missing since Sunday,” according to Asma’s uncle.
