Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU) Assistant Professor of Surgery Dr Rajan Karmakar died of cardiac arrest, according to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital Head of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology Dr Selim Reja.
Dr Selim Reja said: "According to the viscera report, it was a natural death caused by cardiac arrest."
Director of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital Dr Uttam Kumar Barua said: "I agree with Dr Selim Reja on this matter, Dr Rajan died of a myocardial infarction (MI), what is commonly called a cardiac arrest"
On March 16, Dr Rajan suddenly died at his home after returning from office.

Dr Rajan’s colleagues had voiced suspicion over his death, as his relationship with his wife was reportedly tumultuous. They also thought he may have been killed over political power, as Dr Rajan was the son-in-law of Food Minister Sadhan Kumar Majumdar.
Due to the suspicions, a viscera test was conducted to confirm the cause of death.
When asked about the viscera report, Chairman of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of BSMMU Dr. Kazi Billur Rahman said: "I haven’t seen the report yet. As I asked them for a proper investigation on this matter, I expect it to be thorough."
